Vieques bioluminescent bay (Mosquito Bay) brightest in the
world - Guiness Book of Records
Excerpt from Elle magazine...the most magical place to
chill out is the isle of Vieques (At Mosquito Bay) we donned life
vests and slid into the water. Each time I moved, my body
generated thousands of ethereal aqueous sparks, while letting
water trickle through my fingers created an industrial- like flow
of light and magic. I felt as though I was floating in the Milky
Way, while the real thing- sprawled across the sky, as bright as
any planetarium show. Vieques' main attraction is its unspoilt
beaches. Even the sole 'public beach' with a rarely enforced
charge for entry (Sun Bay) is usually deserted. We drove to Red
Beach and Blue Beach, sailed to Purple Beach, and went days
without seeing anyone . It was just us, our deckchairs and cool
box. And this is how Vieques trumps most of the rest of the
Caribbean: rather than being a place to come for flag-in-sand
service, it's rough and ready - you make your own way and
fend for yourself. It feels like your very own desert island, and
there really is no sexier place to play at being stranded.
